Home and Content insurance free tools from Google
Part 1 of 2
Part 2 of 2
A simple and free way to keep a perfect inventory of your household items safely using Google Sketchup and Picasa, two free downloads from Google. We thought of this post after reading how recently so many people suffered the terrible loss of their homes due to flooding and bushfires in the USA and here in Australia so we hope that these free suggestions may help slightly.
Your home and contents policy will have a list of all of your insured items but do you have a photo of all of these items? What about those paper receipts you kept when you bought that last sofa or chair? Go on and scan those receipts and take those photos then upload them to your own private online photo album using Picasa 3, which is free from Google.
These records are now safely online and only you can view them however be sure to check that you mark your online photo album private. This is usually enough however this second tip is also very useful especially for rebuilding or replacing items for your home.
Download Google Sketchup 7 FREE from Google then with your list of household items, from the File menu, choose 3D Warehouse then "Get Models". Search for your existing household items and click "Download Model".
Even if you have no experience with Google Sketchup, you don't need any for this example because after you click on "Download Model", you can simply click "Yes" to load the model directly into the already open session of Google Sketchup. Just remember to save the final file you create once you have downloaded all of the models you choose!

You can get paid to ride an exercise bicycle
These clever people found a way for anyone with one or two good legs to pay for a significant part of their power bill over time. Imagine a major gym chain hooking up all of their exercise bicycles to these generators and helping to power their own gym and to even allow members to recharge mobile phones while doing a cycling or spin class? Kudos to you good people and thanks to Dave Butcher for such great work!

Car Dealers need free Google Alerts.
Here is just an example to let a free Google Alert find rare cars (or any model you choose to search for) without spending very much time at all to find online ads for certain models. Of course, this only applies to ads that are listed on the Internet!
Here are the easy steps to do this:
Open a free Google Account using your current email address or create a free Gmail account so you can log into many other free Google services. Then visit http://www.google.com/alerts and create your own free email alert.
Use " " around words if you have more than one word to search for. In the example shown in our short video clip, we want to locate a classic 1959 Coupe De Ville so these are the exact words that are typed into the "Search Terms" field on the
http://www.google.com/alerts page. Google will email you as soon as such a car is advertised online. Some advertisement sites - sorry we don't have names! - won't be included but the vast majority will be and then Google emails the results to you at a time you specify.
Please see Google Alerts Help for more detail and let Google Alerts work for you while you make money doing something else!

Some of Australia's favourite charities
www.auscharity.org is a great site to help anyone decide which Australian charity to get involved with. It must be an indication of how well things are done here in the land down under that we have so many charity names that we all know of! This short slide show is of some of our favourites that we thought were definitely worth a mention however there are so many others that we are sorry for not including more. Most of these sites will accept donations online for any amount and the good people of PayPal (TM) have a list on their website of charities that you can donate to using their payment system, both for International and for many Australian charities. Get involved if you can with a gift of five cents or five dollars!
